The distinctive vaulted character of the brick podium acknowledges other historic Melbourne spaces found near railway infrastructure like the historic Banana Alley Vaults along Flinders Street and the Princes Walk vaults on the Yarra River. They are embedded into the fabric of the city, part of its many stories.
Melbourne Quarter M1
As part of the Melbourne Quarter Precinct developed by Lendlease, the M1 building houses a dense combination of complementary uses that are set between a new north-south lane and the existing railway corridor.
A space for community spills into Titree Park, a new landscaped heart for the precinct. Along the lane, a childcare centre will stretch across the top of the brick arches. Perched above is a boutique office that is topped by landscaped garden and an outdoor games court. Floor plates are shaded from the east and north by a perforated metal veil that wraps around the façade.
