As a further expression of our culture of making and collaboration the studio features furniture made in our exploration processes.
Our Sydney Studio is an expression of our culture and intent.
Situated within the Tech Central precinct of Haymarket, the studio inhabits our adaptive reuse exemplar at 477 Pitt Street breathing new life into an existing mixed-use tower. Drawing directly on the building’s finely detailed precast façade introduced through its recent refurbishment, the studio adopts a lean material palette that celebrates the inherent qualities of the base building. Raw concrete and exposed services, foreground our commitment to embodied carbon reduction and sustainable stewardship.
The large communal table, comprised of a series of smaller tables was originally designed to hold a collection of disparate ceramics for an exhibition held at the Heide Museum of Modern Art and now serves as a dining table where the team and our collaborators come together to eat, share and learn.
We have also repurposed a set of distinctive easels designed initially for an exhibition of photography that sought to draw out curious coincidences in our work and now allows the display and discussion of current work on the boards.
Our studio extends beyond its conventional boundaries by embracing the shared spaces we have designed into 477 Pitt Street. From a landscaped rooftop terrace as an outdoor atelier and an activated ground-floor lobby, verandah and sitting spaces as breakout and meeting pavilions.
